Silymarin is
the active principle from the fruit of Silybum marianum, better known
as the Milk Thistle. Milk thistle is one of the most extensively
studied herbs in use today, with over 300 scientific studies on its
chemistry and application.
It takes 4.5
grams of whole milk thistle herb to produce 150mg of milk thistle
extract, the amount found in just one of our tablets! We use a
standardised extract from mature seeds, with a guaranteed level of
105mg silymarin per tablet.
Milk thistle
extract may protect the cells of the liver by blocking the entrance
of harmful toxins and helping remove these toxins from the liver
cells. As with other bioflavonoids, silymarin is a powerful
antioxidant Silymarin has also been shown to regenerate injured liver
cells. Recent studies have shown that silymarin has the ability
to block fibrosis, a process that contributes to the eventual
development of cirrhosis in people with inflammatory liver conditions
secondary to diseases such as alcohol abuse or hepatitis. |
